He was frontman, songwriter and bassist for The Police from 1977 to 86. In his early career, Sting played jazz in his spare time with the Phoenix Jazzmen, where he got his nickname from his habit of wearing a black and yellow jumper with hooped stripes. He supports his hometown Newcastle United football club, who have a black and white strip. This explains my use of black, yellow and white in
