Antique Japonisme Warming Plate: Hand-Painted Birds, James Dixon & Sons footed saucier In excellent antique condition withA lovely hand painted Staffordshire heating plate, featuring a gorgeous spring time design of two birds in flight and bamboo leaves. With its charming hand applied polychrome glazes this lovely plate evokes the best of Japonisme of the 1920s Art Deco period. This is known as an 'assiette chaffante' in French, intended to be filled with hot water to keep food hot, possibly intended to feed babies or very young children. Marked for James Dixon & Sons
