It keeps excellent time. My understanding is that the AF 43 on the back stood for Air Force, and year manufactured of 1943. The watch is complete with inner dust cover which is rare to find intact. The hacking feature stops the seconds hand when the crown is in the setting position. The hacking feature allowed watches to be set in unison
