In 1813, the Holey Dollar was created by cutting a hole in Spanish silver dollars and stamping them with the colony's initials to address a shortage of currency in New South Wales. The leftover silver was used to mint the smaller Dump coin. The bicentenary celebrated these coins' historical significance in Australia's early monetary
