He practiced there for more than fifty years, as well as serving as physician to the Bath General Hospital. Faulkner could see Bath was not immune to the tartan frenzy of George IV's Royal Visit to Edinburgh and sought to create an elixir of royal standard around the drink of the day, Whisky.
