Barite Rose Rock Cluster | Oklahoma orange A vibrant mix of rawThe reddish brown rock consists of sandy crystals of barite (barium sulphate) in petal like clusters that resemble a rose in full bloom. Most Rose Rocks are one half inch to four inches in diameter and consist of five to twenty radiating petals. Deposited 250 million years ago during the Permian Period of geological time, the rocks are usually found in Oklahomas Garber sandstone formations. Because barite is harder and more durable than sandstone, the
