The box lid is ceramic with a blackened wood base. Born in 1923, Mith Espelt was a ceramic artist based in the south of France. Her grandfather introduced her into the upper echelons of both the artistic and intellectual world where she rubbed shoulders with Jean Hugo, Jean Cocteau, Pablo Picasso, Christian Brard and many others.
